Sibanye Stillwater, based in Brits, North West, seeks a Miner/Team Leader to oversee safe blasting and development work in underground sections.

The role requires a minimum of 2 years' Team Leader experience, a Permanent Blasting Certificate, and medical fitness. You will ensure legal compliance, lead safety meetings, and drive production with a focus on safety and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare the face for daily blast.
• Ensure compliance with legal requirements including communication and token books.
• Initiate, conduct and record safety meetings.
• SA PGM Operations: Enhance Together for Sustainability (eTfS).
• Conduct risk assessments and identify hazards.
• Scrutinize reports submitted by service departments (e.g., survey, ventilation, safety, engineering) and implement the required action when necessary.
• Create and maintain a safe and healthy work environment.
• Ensure that team members have clear work expectations and plans from day to day and week to week and supplies feedback to team on performance.
• Display updated plans for all to be informed.
• The Miner is accountable for development ends or panel blasting while assisting and supporting the team in the safe execution of mining. He/she has the Legal accountability and appointment in terms of the Minerals Act and Regulations and is responsible to ensure compliance to Legal requirements and Management specifics, and the completion of records pertaining to his/her area of responsibility, as stipulated by the regulations.
• Conduct legal and general administration duties.
• Align to international responsible mining principles.
• Conduct and/ or supervise early morning examinations according to procedures.
• Complete timesheets for signing on/ off.
• Order explosives and update inventory list of equipment.
• Submit shift tally report.
• Sign and adhere to equipment checklist.
• Actively support and meaningfully participate in the execution of the segment specific organisational development plan. This support will manifest in the targeted shift in culture as described by a valid culture assessment.
• Ensuring open communication channels with all relevant stakeholders.
• Building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders across the organisation and externally at all levels and crossfunctionally.
• Provide advice to Development/Stoping/Trackless team on the technical requirements to optimise performance.
• Monitor and report breakdowns to minimise delays.
• Complete and sign token books.
• Complete and sign day/ night shift communication book.
• Compile and ensure adherence to leave roster.
• Support to each other until shift objectives are achieved.Assess staff performance, give constructive feedback and schedule required training.
• Support the induction of new employees into the Development/Stoping/Trackless team.
• Sign for and adhere to blasting schedules.
• Ensure charging up procedures and standards are adhered to including connecting time
• Coach staff on the job, especially when working sub-standardsafety tips and hints
• Improve our position on global industry cost curve.
• Supervise end of shift procedures.
• Monitor daily advance measurements and initiate corrective action.
• Optimisation of allocated resources.
• Focus on safety and health as well as operational excellence.
• Ensure that work is fairly allocated, and team members provided continuous support to each other until shift objectives are achieved.
• Supervise the cycle of operation.
