KINGsleyIrons Recruitment Services CC is assisting a leading mining operation in the Northern Cape to recruit a Mine Technical Services Manager. This on-site role based in Hotazel oversees geology, exploration, mine planning, survey, and rock engineering to meet grade and volume targets while upholding MHSA and safety standards.

Ideal candidates will have 10–15 years of mining experience including technical services and mine planning, plus 4–5 years in senior management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mining Engineering or Geology; related field acceptable.
• MDP/MBA considered advantageous for leadership roles.
• MMCC certification required/advantageous for suitability.

Responsibilities

• Lead geology, exploration, mine planning, survey and rock engineering teams.
• Oversee long-, medium- and short-term mine planning and ensure alignment with production strategy.
• Ensure mining occurs in correct areas to achieve grade and volume targets.
• Manage geological modelling, resource/reserve updates and grade control processes.
• Oversee survey accuracy, stock reconciliation and metal balance.
• Coordinate drilling, blasting, loading and hauling activities with contractors.
• Monitor pit conditions, geotechnical stability and safety compliance.
• Drive continuous improvement, new technologies and best-practice adoption; prepare and manage budgets.
• Ensure MHSA and environmental/internal standard compliance.
• Lead performance management, coaching, recruitment and development of technical staff.
• Support scenario planning and technical decision-making.
• Maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Description / Synopsis:

A leading mining operation in the Northern Cape is seeking an experienced Mine Technical Services Manager to oversee all technical functions on site, including geology, exploration, mine planning, survey, and rock engineering. This senior role ensures the mine operates in the correct areas, achieves grade and volume targets, and maintains safe, efficient production. The position requires strong technical expertise, leadership capability, and the ability to integrate multiple technical disciplines into a cohesive mining plan. This is a site-based role in Hotazel and requires relocation.

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering, Geology or related field
• Postgraduate management qualification (MDP/MBA) advantageous
• Valid Mine Manager’s Certificate of Competency (MMCC)
• Minimum 10-15 years mining experience, including technical services and mine planning
• Minimum 4-5 years senior management experience
• Experience in open-pit mining (underground exposure beneficial)
• Strong proficiency in mine design and planning software (Whittle, XPAC, Surpac, Datamine, Minesight)
• Solid understanding of geological modelling, geotechnical principles, survey systems and grade control
• Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills
• In-depth knowledge of MHSA and mining compliance requirements
• Financial acumen and experience managing budgets and contractors
