Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a proactive Mine Safety Officer for the Randburg area to implement and enforce safety protocols across mining operations. You will conduct inspections, identify hazards, deliver training, and investigate incidents to prevent recurrence.

The ideal candidate has a National Certificate in Mine Safety Management or equivalent, at least 5 years’ experience in mining safety, and strong knowledge of SA safety regulations. On-site presence is required.

Qualifications

• Must hold a National Certificate in Mine Safety Management or equivalent.
• Minimum of 5 years' experience in mining safety.
• Solid knowledge of South African mining safety legislation.

Responsibilities

• Conduct routine safety inspections and audits of mining sites, equipment and practices.
• Identify workplace hazards and implement corrective actions to mitigate risks.
• Develop and deliver safety training programs to all levels of employees.
• Investigate accidents, injuries and near misses, preparing detailed reports and recommending preventative measures.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation and company policies.
• Promote a positive safety culture through active engagement with employees.
