Placements24 seeks a Mine Rehabilitation Specialist to join a fully remote sustainability team supporting projects around Soweto. You will plan, oversee and implement strategies for post-closure rehabilitation, leveraging environmental science and land management to restore ecosystems and ensure long-term site stability.

Collaborate virtually with environmental managers, geologists and external stakeholders to ensure compliant, sustainable land use following mining operations.

Qualifications

• Degree in Environmental Science, Ecology, Agronomy, or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in mine rehabilitation, land reclamation, or post-mining environmental management.
• Strong knowledge of ecological restoration principles and techniques.
• Familiarity with South African environmental legislation and mining closure regulations.
• Excellent project management, communication, and remote collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop comprehensive mine rehabilitation and closure plans in accordance with regulatory requirements.
