Job summary

Implats seeks a Mine Overseer to oversee production at an operational/tactical management level, ensuring safe and cost-effective output.

You will supervise shift supervisors and miners, plan short- and long-term objectives, set budgets, ensure compliance, and drive disciplinary and performance processes.

Underground production experience and a Mine Overseer certificate are essential, with 5+ years in supervision and relevant qualifications.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 with Mathematics and Physical Science (or NQF 4 equivalent) is essential.
• Mine Overseer Certificate of Competency is essential.
• Mining Engineering Diploma or Degree is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Oversee mining production targets and ensure they are achieved.
• Ensure optimum production of good quality is achieved safely and cost-effectively.
• Supervise shift supervisors and miners to ensure production targets are met.
• Plan short-term and long-term strategic objectives.
• Set financial budgets and ensure adherence to them.
• Directly supervise people in the area of responsibility and maintain safety compliance.
• Evaluate and improve work processes and discipline when required.
• Ensure adherence to policies and legal regulations.

Job description
