Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Mine Operations Manager near Pietermaritzburg to lead all mine and processing activities, drive safety culture, and manage budgets and teams. The role focuses on safe, efficient, and cost-effective extraction and processing with a strong emphasis on improving operations.

The successful candidate will oversee drilling, blasting, hauling, and processing while maintaining regulatory compliance and stakeholder relations. Relocation assistance may be considered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering, Geology, or a related field.
• Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in mine operations management.
• Proven track record in managing large teams and complex mining projects.
• In-depth knowledge of open-pit or underground mining techniques and equipment.
• Strong understanding of safety protocols, environmental management systems, and relevant legislation.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement operational strategies to meet production goals and quality standards.
• Ensure strict adherence to all health, safety, and environmental regulations and company policies.
• Manage and optimize resource allocation, including personnel, equipment, and materials, for maximum efficiency.
• Oversee the day-to-day operations of the mine, including drilling, blasting, hauling, and processing.
• Conduct regular performance reviews of operational staff and implement training programs to enhance skills.
• Manage operational budgets and control costs effectively without compromising safety or output.
