Placements24 is seeking a highly experienced Mine Manager for operations near Durban, KwaZulu-Natal. The role oversees underground or open-pit mining, safety, production, and regulatory compliance, directing a diverse workforce with a focus on performance and accountability.

The successful candidate will bring a strong track record in mine management, strategic planning, and financial stewardship, driving efficiency, cost control, and sustainable operations at site level.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mining Engineering or related field; postgraduate qualification desirable.
• 10–15 years of mining experience with at least 5 years in a senior management role.
• Proven experience managing large, complex mining operations (underground or open-pit).
• Deep knowledge of mining methods, safety regulations, and environmental standards.

Responsibilities

• Direct and manage all aspects of mine operations (production, maintenance, safety, environment).
• Develop and implement strategic plans to hit production targets and safety goals.
• Ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations and company policies.
• Lead and develop a diverse workforce; foster safety and high performance culture.
• Oversee equipment utilisation and resource management to optimise productivity.
• Manage budgets, control costs, and achieve financial targets.
• Liaise with senior management, regulators, and external stakeholders.
• Drive continuous improvement for efficiency and effectiveness.
• Conduct site inspections and risk assessments to ensure safe conditions.
• Build strong relationships with local communities and authorities.
