The role requires 6+ years in metallurgical processing within the mining sector, with a strong grasp of unit operations and process simulations.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience in metallurgical processing, preferably in mining.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; experience with lab analysis and QC procedures.

Responsibilities

• Develop, optimize, and control metallurgical processes to maximize recovery and product quality.
• Conduct test work and pilot studies to evaluate new processing techniques.
• Monitor process performance through sampling, analysis, and data interpretation.
• Troubleshoot issues in concentrator and processing plants.
• Prepare technical reports with performance reviews, recommendations and cost analyses.

About the Role

Our client seeks a skilled Mine Metallurgist to optimize mineral processing and recovery operations at their facilities in Sandton . This role is vital for enhancing extraction efficiencies, controlling process parameters, and ensuring the quality of the final product. You will work closely with mine engineers and laboratory technicians to troubleshoot processing issues and implement improvements. Key Responsibilities

• Develop, optimize, and control metallurgical processes to maximize mineral recovery and product quality.
• Conduct test work and pilot plant studies to evaluate new processing techniques and reagents.
• Monitor process performance through regular sampling, analysis, and data interpretation.
• Troubleshoot operational issues in the concentrator and other processing plants.
• Prepare detailed technical reports on process performance, recommendations for improvement, and cost-benefit analyses.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards in all processing activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in metallurgical processing , particularly within the mining industry (e.g., gold, platinum, base metals).
• Strong understanding of mineral processing unit operations (crushing, grinding, flotation, leaching, etc.).
• Proficiency in metallurgical accounting and process simulation software.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with laboratory analysis and quality control procedures.
