Placements24 is seeking a skilled Metallurgist specializing in mineral processing to join their Upington operations. You will optimize the processing plant performance, conduct tests, analyze data and implement improvements to boost recovery and efficiency.

The ideal candidate has a degree in Metallurgy or Chemical Engineering, 5+ years in mineral processing, and strong data analysis skills; experience with process simulation software is a plus, and relocation support may be offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in mineral processing, with a focus on base metals or precious metals.
• Strong understanding of metallurgical principles and processing technologies.
• Experience with process simulation software and data analysis tools.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and optimize the performance of mineral processing circuits (crushing, grinding, flotation, leaching).
• Conduct laboratory and pilot-scale test work to evaluate new processes and improve existing ones.
• Analyze metallurgical data, identify trends, and implement strategies to improve recovery rates and product quality.
• Troubleshoot process upsets and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime.
• Ensure adherence to safety and environmental standards within the processing plant.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Metallurgist specializing in mineral processing to join their operational team in Upington . This role is integral to optimizing the extraction and recovery of valuable minerals from ore. You will be responsible for the performance of the processing plant, conducting tests, analyzing data, and implementing improvements to enhance efficiency and yield. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in hydrometallurgy or pyrometallurgy, a keen eye for detail, and a commitment to achieving operational excellence, working within a team dedicated to maximizing resource value in a key mining region of the Northern Cape.

Key Responsibilities
