Job summary

Placements24 seeks an accomplished Metallurgical Engineer to join our Vereeniging processing plant operations. The role focuses on optimizing mineral recovery, ensuring efficiency and product quality, and overseeing design, operation, and troubleshooting of metallurgical processes.

The ideal candidate has a BSc/BEng in Metallurgy or Chemical Engineering with at least 7 years of experience, strong problem-solving abilities, and hands-on leadership in a large-scale industrial setting.

Qualifications

BSc/BEng in Metallurgy or related field is required.
Minimum 7 years in metallurgical processing, preferably base/precious metals.
Strong understanding of mineral processing principles and control systems.

Responsibilities

Optimize crushing, grinding, flotation, leaching, and refining processes.
Conduct lab and pilot plant tests to evaluate new technologies.
Monitor plant performance and metallurgical accounting data for improvements.
Troubleshoot upsets and implement corrective actions for stability.

About the Role

Our client is seeking an accomplished Metallurgical Engineer to join their processing plant operations in Vereeniging. This key role focuses on optimizing the recovery of valuable minerals from ore, ensuring efficiency, and maintaining high standards of product quality. You will be responsible for the design, operation, and troubleshooting of metallurgical processes, employing scientific principles to enhance yield and minimize environmental impact. This position is critical to the financial success of the mining operations in the Gauteng region, requiring a blend of theoretical knowledge and practical, hands-on engineering expertise within a large-scale industrial setting.

Key Responsibilities

Optimize mineral processing operations, including crushing, grinding, flotation, leaching, and refining.
Conduct laboratory and pilot plant test work to evaluate new process technologies and improve existing ones.
Monitor plant performance, analyze metallurgical accounting data, and identify areas for improvement.
Troubleshoot process upsets and implement corrective actions to maintain operational stability.
Collaborate with operations and maintenance teams to ensure safe and efficient plant functioning.
Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and implement best practices for waste management.

Requirements

BSc/BEng in Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
Minimum of 7 years of experience in metallurgical processing, preferably in base metals or precious metals.
