Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a seasoned Mine Maintenance Engineer for our Benoni site to lead maintenance strategies, improve equipment reliability, and minimise downtime.

You will develop and manage preventative and corrective maintenance programs, supervise technicians, and ensure safe, compliant operations while controlling spare parts and budgets. A strong technical and leadership background is essential for success in this role.

Qualifications

• Degree or National Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum of 5 years' experience in a mine maintenance engineering role.
• Strong knowledge of heavy mining equipment, hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical systems.
• Experience with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) is essential.
• Excellent diagnostic, problem-solving, and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and manage preventative and corrective maintenance programs for mining equipment.
• Supervise and mentor a team of maintenance technicians and artisans.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex mechanical and electrical issues on plant and mobile equipment.
• Manage spare parts inventory and maintenance budgets effectively.
• Ensure all maintenance activities comply with safety standards and regulatory requirements in Benoni.
