Placements24 is seeking a Mine Geologist in Upington to contribute to exploration and resource estimation. You will perform mapping, core logging, sampling, and develop geological models to support mine planning and operations.

Expect collaboration with geologists and mine engineers to assess new targets and optimize resource definition. Ideal candidates have 3+ years in exploration or mine geology and proficiency with Leapfrog, Vulcan, or ioGAS.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Geology or Earth Sciences.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in exploration or mine geology.
• Proficiency with geological modeling software (Leapfrog, Vulcan, ioGAS).
• Experience in core logging, sampling techniques, and basic assay interpretation.
• Understanding of structural geology and deposit modeling.
• Good communication and teamwork skills, with a proactive approach.

Responsibilities

• Conduct geological mapping, structural analysis, and detailed core logging.
• Plan and supervise exploration drilling programs, including sampling and assay coordination.
• Collect and interpret geological, geochemical, and geophysical data.
• Develop and maintain geological models using industry-standard software.
• Assist in resource and reserve estimation, adhering to JORC or equivalent standards.
• Prepare geological reports and contribute to mine planning processes.
• Work closely with the mine engineering and operations teams to ensure geological data accuracy.
