Job summary

Greys Recruitment is seeking a skilled Millwright for a key maintenance role in a South African FMCG environment. You will perform preventative maintenance, fault-finding, and breakdown repairs to ensure safe, efficient operation of bottling lines.

Candidates should have an N6 or equivalent trade test, at least 5 years as an artisan, and a minimum of 3 years in FMCG. SAP and Harford experience, plus strong problem-solving skills, are required.

Qualifications

• N6 engineering or equivalent trade test (Electrical or Mechanical).
• 5 years' experience as an artisan in Utilities.
• Minimum 3 years in FMCG environment, preferably bottling.
• Strong problem solving and root-cause analysis.
• Proficient in SAP and Harford, with MS Office competency.

Responsibilities

• Maintain safe, clean workplace following Safety and 5S MMS.
• Provide asset care resources to Operations team.
• Carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance to defined schedules.
• Coach operators on autonomous maintenance and setup optimization.
• Support capital projects including installation and commissioning.
• Use SAP for reporting and recording maintenance activities.
• Lead RCPS and 5 Whys analysis with shift teams.
• Participate in line improvements and asset care reviews.

Job description

We are currently looking for a Millwrights who will be responsible for preventative maintenance, fault-finding, breakdown repairs, and ensuring that all machinery operates safely and efficiently.

Minimum requirements:

• N6 engineering and Equivalent trade test (Electrical or Mechanical)
• 5 years' experience as an artisan in Utilities
• Minimum of 3 years in an FMCG environment, preferably in bottling
• Numerical/verbal reasoning
• Computer literate, MS Office and SAP experience
• Understanding of Asset Performance and maintenance philosophy with excellent process improvement skills and a solid foundation in process understanding and problem-solving (eg root cause analysis)
• Ability to work autonomously.
• Ability to work in a team and be an effective team member, with good communication skills
• Has the strength of character to challenge poor team behaviours and non-adherence to standards.
• Functioned in an environment with FSSC accreditation with a clear understanding of how maintenance influences food safety and quality.
• Surfaces problems; doesn't hide them.

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintain a safe and organised workplace environment through adherence to the Safety and 5S MMS practices.
• Provide Asset Care Technician resources (electrical and/or mechanical) to the Operations team.
• Accountable for ensuring all assigned Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) schedules are carried out at the defined frequency and completed to the required standard.
• Coach operators to perform autonomous maintenance tasks, machine set-up optimisation and support growth in equipment capability as required.
• Support capital work, including installation, commissioning and testing within the area as required. Responsible for feeding into early equipment management.
• Make full use of SAP - SAP reporting & recording completion.
• Review RCM activity on a weekly basis.
• Apply and use MMS principles, tools and techniques, contributing positively to MMS ITFs.
• Manage personal data in Workday, e.g., P4G and personal details, My Learning Hub, etc.
• Attend and contribute to SIC process. Complete short interval control documentation on activities.
• Raise and attend 5 Whys as defined by agreed trigger points. Work with Operators and team leaders to play a proactive role in situational problem solving on shift. Fixing problems and finding solutions via RCPS.
• Participate in line improvement projects.
• Engage in start-of-shift meetings and performance-based team meetings to raise and address persistent performance issues.
• Participate in daily, weekly, and monthly asset care review meetings.
• Anticipate issues and be more proactive in your approach.
• Support TLs & Operators to build asset care and RCPS capability.
• Attend all Tier 1 meetings and Tier 2 meetings as required, contribute to the agenda and complete actions as required.
• Add to the maintenance system by optimising work schedules to add value.
• All planned maintenance schedules issued to be completed on time and in full.
• Potential to carry out standby activities as and when required.
• Carry out audits and inspections on equipment deems to fall under legislative requirements.
• Able to run with and manage projects such eg.FI improvements.
