Job summary

Bridgena Barnard Personnel Group presents an opportunity for a skilled Millwright in a packaging manufacturing environment in Cape Town. The successful candidate will ensure machine reliability, availability and performance while minimising breakdowns and supporting continuous improvement.

Responsibilities include preventative and corrective maintenance, fault-finding across electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems, and collaboration with Production and Engineering teams to

Qualifications

• Red Seal Trade Tested Millwright is required.
• N6/Nat Dip in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering is advantageous.
• 3–5 years' experience in manufacturing/engineering/packaging environment.
• Experience in plastic manufacturing, packaging, FMCG or high-volume production is advantageous.
• Strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding skills.
• Practical experience with pneumatics and hydraulics.
• Experience with PLC-controlled machinery.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and electrical schematics.
• Willingness to work shifts, overtime and standby.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative, predictive and corrective maintenance on production machinery and plant equipment.
• Diagnose and repair electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic faults.
• Attend to machinery breakdowns quickly to minimise downtime.
• Maintain and troubleshoot automated plastic manufacturing and packaging equipment.
• Read and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings, schematics and manuals.
• Maintain and troubleshoot motors, gearboxes, pumps, conveyors, sensors, drives and control systems.
• Assist with PLC fault-finding and automated equipment.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, quality and environmental requirements.
