Job summary

Morton Moore Financial Services is seeking a qualified Millwright for an established steel manufacturing company in Amanzimtoti, KwaZulu-Natal. The successful candidate will join the plant maintenance team, handling both electrical and mechanical maintenance across production equipment.

Key responsibilities include planned, preventive and breakdown maintenance, fault finding on electrical/control circuits, and installation or commissioning of new machinery.

Qualifications

• Trade-tested Millwright certification.
• 3–5 years post-trade experience in industrial/manufacturing environment.
• Experience in steel, foundry, heavy engineering or similar heavy industry preferred.
• Strong fault-finding skills across electrical and mechanical systems.
• Knowledge of VSDs, PLCs and control circuits.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned, preventive and breakdown maintenance on electro-mechanical plant equipment.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults on production machinery.
• Maintain and repair motors, gearboxes, pumps, conveyors, cranes and rolling mill equipment.
• Fault-find on control circuits, starters, VSDs and basic PLC systems.
• Install, align and commission new machinery and plant modifications.
• Replace bearings, seals, couplings and drive components.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
• Maintain hydraulic and pneumatic systems as part of routine maintenance.
• Follow lock-out/tag-out, permit-to-work and PPE procedures at all times.
• Complete job cards and maintenance records accurately.
• Work with production and engineering teams to improve equipment reliability.
• Be available for shift work, standby and emergency call-outs.

• Valid driver's licence, clear criminal record and ability to pass a medical assessment.
