Job summary

Amanzimtoti, South Africa-based client seeks a qualified Millwright to join its new plant maintenance team. The successful candidate will handle both electrical and mechanical maintenance across production equipment.

Key duties include diagnosing faults, maintaining motors and gearboxes, and installing new machinery. Shift work, overtime, standby and weekend work are required; medical aid, provident fund and ongoing training are offered.

Qualifications

• Trade Tested / Red Seal Millwright.
• 3–5 years post-trade experience in industrial/manufacturing.
• Experience in steel, foundry, heavy engineering or similar industrial environment preferred.
• Strong fault-finding skills across electrical and mechanical systems.
• Working knowledge of VSDs, PLCs and industrial control circuits.
• Hydraulic and pneumatic experience advantageous.
• Good understanding of the OHS Act and safe working practices.
• Willingness to work shifts, overtime, standby and weekends.
• Valid driver''s license, clear criminal record and ability to pass a medical assessment.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned, preventative and breakdown maintenance on electro-mechanical plant equipment.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults on production machinery.
• Maintain and repair motors, gearboxes, pumps, conveyors, cranes and rolling mill equipment.
• Fault-find on control circuits, starters, VSDs and basic PLC systems.
• Install, align and commission new machinery and plant modifications.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
• Maintain hydraulic and pneumatic systems as part of routine plant maintenance.
• Follow lock-out/tag-out, permit-to-work and PPE procedures at all times.
• Complete job cards and maintenance records accurately.
• Work with production and engineering teams to improve equipment reliability.
• Be available for shift work, standby and emergency call-outs.
