Job summary

Tongaat Hulett's Voermol Feeds unit in the Engineering department seeks a skilled Millwright to maintain and repair mechanical and electrical systems, diagnose faults, and drive preventative maintenance programs.

The role requires reading engineering drawings, performing root-cause analysis, and supporting plant upgrades with strong safety discipline. English proficiency is essential.

Qualifications

• Grade 12/Matric essential; Millwright trade certificate essential; N4/N6 engineering studies advantageous.
• Exposure to PLC systems (Siemens/Allen-Bradley) desirable; ability to take initiative.
• 3–5 years post-trade Millwright experience in heavy industry; fault finding expertise.
• Experience with conveyors, elevators, augers, hammer mills, pellet mills, mixers and bulk handling.

Responsibilities

• Planned and preventative maintenance on mechanical and electrical equipment.
• Carry out inspections, lubrication, and maintenance per plan and asset register.
• Identify wear, report defects and potential failures before breakdowns.
• Repair, replace or overhaul faulty components following procedures.
• Respond to breakdowns to minimise downtime; fault-finding on motors, MCCs and PLCs.
• Install new plant and equipment; align and commission machinery.
• Conduct root-cause analysis on recurring breakdowns.
• Maintain maintenance history and downtime records in CMMS.
