Job summary

Network Contracting in Pretoria, South Africa, is seeking a seasoned Millwright with strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding capabilities to maintain and improve production machinery. The role involves planned maintenance, breakdown repairs, diagnostics, and installation of new equipment in a manufacturing setting.

You will read technical drawings, work on hydraulics and pneumatics, and collaborate with production teams to maximise uptime, while adhering to safety and OHS requirements.

Qualifications

• Grade 12/Matric completed.
• An N6 or National Diploma in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering is advantageous.
• Millwright trade qualification (Red Seal) is preferred.
• Minimum 3–5 years of relevant industrial experience.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.

Responsibilities

• Perform planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on mechanical and electrical equipment.
• Attend to breakdowns, fault-finding and repairs on production machinery.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic faults.
• Conduct inspections of machinery and identify potential equipment failures.
• Install, maintain, repair and commission industrial machinery and equipment.
• Work on motors, gearboxes, pumps, conveyors, bearings, drives and other mechanical equipment.
• Conduct electrical fault-finding and repairs where required.
• Read and interpret electrical, mechanical and engineering drawings.
• Carry out equipment modifications and improvements to increase reliability and production efficiency.
• Assist with the installation and commissioning of new machinery.
• Ensure maintenance activities are completed according to planned schedules.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and report on equipment failures.
• Work closely with production teams to minimise downtime and improve equipment availability.
• Ensure compliance with OHS requirements, company procedures and safe working practices.
• Maintain a high standard of housekeeping within the maintenance and production areas.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and root-cause analysis.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Grade 12 / Matric .
• N6 / National Diploma in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering would be advantageous.
• Qualified Millwright Trade Tested / Red Seal .
• Minimum 35 years' relevant experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding capabilities.
• Experience working on production and industrial machinery .
• Working knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics .
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
• Experience with preventative and corrective maintenance.
• Good understanding of PLC-controlled machinery would be advantageous.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving ability.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary maintenance team.
• Willingness to work shifts, overtime and respond to breakdowns when required.
