Job summary

Recruitpro Solutions in South Africa is assisting a proudly South African engineering company specialising in innovative mineral processing solutions. They are expanding their Klerksdorp operation and seek a Red Seal qualified Millwright to keep a busy steel manufacturing facility running safely and reliably.

The successful candidate will perform preventive and breakdown maintenance, service gearboxes, drives, conveyors, cranes and hydraulic/pneumatic systems, and fault-find electrical circuits.

Qualifications

• Red Seal qualified Millwright with trade testing.
• Grade 12 or equivalent.
• 3–5 years' experience on steel manufacturing or heavy industrial equipment.
• Strong mechanical, hydraulic and electrical maintenance/fault finding skills.
• Experience with hydraulic systems and understanding hydraulic theory.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive, predictive and breakdown maintenance across the facility.
• Maintain and repair mechanical systems, including gearboxes, drives, conveyors and rotating equipment.
• Inspect and troubleshoot overhead cranes, hoists and lifting systems; support mobile equipment like forklifts.
• Diagnose and repair hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Electrical fault finding on motors, control circuits, limit switches, sensors, VSDs and PLC I/O.
• Read and interpret mechanical/electrical/hydraulic/pneumatic drawings.
• Identify root causes and implement permanent corrective actions.
• Assist with installation, commissioning and modification of plant equipment.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety and lockout procedures.
• Complete job cards, inspections, maintenance reports and records.
• Collaborate with production to minimise downtime and improve efficiency.

We are recruiting on behalf of a proudly South African engineering company specialising in innovative mineral processing solutions, with a strong footprint in the mining and manufacturing sectors. The business is expanding its Klerksdorp operation and is looking for a Red Seal qualified Millwright to keep a busy steel manufacturing facility running safely and reliably.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform preventive, predictive and breakdown maintenance across the facility
• Maintain and repair mechanical systems, including gearboxes, drives, conveyors and rotating equipment
• Inspect, maintain and troubleshoot overhead cranes, hoists and fixed lifting systems, and provide maintenance support to the mobile equipment fleet such as forklifts and similar material handling equipment
• Diagnose and repair industrial hydraulic and pneumatic systems
• Conduct electrical fault finding on motors, control circuits, limit switches, sensors, VSDs and basic PLC I/O
• Read and interpret mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic drawings and schematics
• Identify root causes of failures and implement permanent corrective actions to improve equipment reliability
• Assist with the installation, commissioning and modification of new and upgraded plant equipment
• Ensure strict compliance with health, safety and lock out procedures
• Complete job cards, inspections, maintenance reports and statutory records
• Work closely with production teams to minimise downtime and improve operational efficiency

Experience and Qualifications

• Red Seal qualified Millwright (trade tested)
• Grade 12 or equivalent
• 3 to 5 years' experience maintaining steel manufacturing or heavy industrial plant equipment
• Solid mechanical, hydraulic and electrical maintenance and fault finding experience
• Proven experience with industrial hydraulic systems and a strong understanding of hydraulic theory and components
• Experience in preventative and corrective maintenance
• Strong troubleshooting and problem solving ability
• Able to work independently and as part of a team
• Physically capable of lifting heavy components and working in confined spaces
• Background in manufacturing, mining, construction or heavy equipment environments
