Job summary

Tiger Consumer Brands Ltd. in Germiston is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician (Millwright) to service and fault-find on key plant equipment in the processing department. The role is shift-based and floor-level, requiring hands-on preventive and reactive maintenance to maximize production capacity.

You will work with electrical and mechanical fault-finding tools, perform root cause analyses and help reduce downtime while adhering to safety and food-safety standards.

Qualifications

• 3 years of experience in an FMCG environment.
• Fully compliant with statutory requirements and budget targets.
• Academic: N3 and Trade test in Millwright.

Responsibilities

• Perform planned and reactive maintenance on mixers, probers, moulders, conveyors, ovens, coolers and slicing machinery.
• Carry out minor maintenance on site services (boilers, air compressors, chillers, air dryers).
• Conduct running inspections on plant machinery and site services.
• Perform electrical and instrumentation fault-finding using meters and drawings.
• Perform mechanical fault-finding using mechanical drawings and OEM manuals.
• Complete root cause failure analyses for breakdowns.
• Assist in developing actions to reduce downtime and product damage.
• Complete daily job cards and monitor planned maintenance.

You will provide Maintenance services of specific machinery and equipment in the processing department of a food processing factory. You will support operational staff in maximizing productions capacity through plant availability. This role is based on shift work and factory floor based in the processing department.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

Plant Maintenance:

• Conduct Planned and Reactive Maintenance on Mixers, Proofers, Moulders, Conveyors, Ovens, Coolers and Slicing Machinery.
• Conduct Minor Maintenance on Site Services (Boilers, Air Compressors, Chillers, Air Dryers, etc.)
• Conduct Running Inspections on Plant Machinery and Site Services.
• Perform Electrical & Instrumentation Fault-Finding Activities on Plant Machinery with Utilization of Multimeters, InfraRed Scanners, Electrical Drawings, Equipment Manuals & OEM Support.
• Perform Mechanical Fault - Finding Activities on Plant Machinery with Utilization of Mechanical Drawings, Equipment Manuals & OEM Support.
• Complete Root Cause Failure Analysis for all Breakdowns
• Assist Maintenance Coordinator and Manager in Developing Action Plans to Reduce Plant Machinery Downtime and Product Damages.
• Daily completion of job cards
• Overseeing planned and preventive maintenance by identifying and correcting potential issues, removing worn out pieces and lubricating mechanical part

Risk Management:

• Understanding of LOTTO
• Drive the ongoing monitoring, escalation and reporting on risk management issues. Flag all risks and assist in finding solutions

Safety and Quality:

• Close all assigned Occupational Health & Safety and Food Safety Findings to ensure compliance to company regulations.
