Job summary

Our client, a well-established FMCG manufacturing company based in Killarney Gardens, Cape Town, is seeking a qualified Millwright for a 3-month contract. The successful candidate will maintain production equipment, attend to electrical and mechanical breakdowns, perform preventative maintenance and support production to maximise uptime.

The role requires Red Seal Millwright / QCTO Millwright Trade Certificate, 3–5 years post-trade FMCG experience, and expertise in Siemens STEP 7, TIA Portal and

Qualifications

• Qualified Millwright with Red Seal or QCTO certification.
• Post-trade FMCG or food manufacturing experience (3–5 years).
• Strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding skills and fault repair abilities.
• Experience with preventative and breakdown maintenance and accurate record-keeping.

Responsibilities

• Perform electrical and mechanical fault finding and repairs.
• Conduct preventative maintenance according to planned schedules.
• Respond to emergency breakdowns to minimise downtime.
• Maintain machine control and safety systems.
• Troubleshoot PLC and automated control systems.
• Install, commission and maintain machinery and equipment.
• Provide technical support to production teams.
• Complete and capture job cards accurately.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and reports.
• Ensure compliance with Health and Safety requirements.

Job description

The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining production equipment, attending to electrical and mechanical breakdowns, performing preventative maintenance and supporting production to ensure maximum equipment uptime.

Requirements

• Grade 12 / NQF Level 3
• N2–N4 advantageous
• Qualified Red Seal Millwright / QCTO Millwright Trade Certificate is essential
• Minimum 3–5 years' post-trade experience in an FMCG / food manufacturing environment
• Strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding skills
• Experience with preventative and breakdown maintenanceExperience maintaining production machinery and equipment
• Experience with Siemens STEP 7, TIA Portal and HMI systems
• PLC and machine control systems experience
• Experience with refrigeration breakdowns advantageous
• Experience with machinery installation and commissioning
• Root Cause Analysis and continuous improvement experience
• Computer literate
• Experience completing job cards and maintaining maintenance records
• Valid driver's licence
• Own reliable vehicle essential
• Good communication and problem-solving skills
• Strong work ethic and reliability

Key Responsibilities
