Job summary

Our client in the FMCG Food Industry is seeking a Senior Millwright in Cape Town to maintain and repair plant machinery. You will perform routine maintenance, troubleshoot electrical and mechanical faults, align and calibrate equipment, and ensure compliance with safety and food-grade standards.

The role requires a proven track record as a millwright, strong knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, welding, and PLC fault finding, with experience in FMCG environments and GMP/HACCP familiarity.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Millwright with strong mechanical and electrical skills.
• Experience with mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics and welding.
• Able to read electrical schematics and blueprints; PLC fault finding.
• FMCG/Food industry exposure and GMP/HACCP familiarity preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance to prevent equipment breakdowns and ensure optimal functionality.
• Troubleshoot, diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical issues on production and plant machinery.
• Repair or replace defective parts using hand and power tools.
• Align and calibrate machinery to meet operational requirements.
• Weld and fabricate machine components as needed.
• Collaborate with maintenance and production teams to address equipment challenges.
• Follow safety protocols and preventive maintenance schedules.
• Keep CMMS records of maintenance activities, repairs, and parts inventory.
• Stay updated with advancements in industrial technology and machinery.

Job Title : Senior Millwright

Location : Cape Town (Stikland)

Remuneration : R45 000 per month

Our client in the FMCG Food Industry is looking to employ a Senior Millwright in Cape Town.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform routine maintenance tasks to prevent equipment breakdowns and ensure optimal functionality.
• Troubleshoot, diagnose and repair Mechanical and Electrical issues on production and plant machinery.
• Repair or replace defective parts using hand and power tools.
• Align and calibrate machinery to meet operational requirements.
• Weld and fabricate machine components as needed.
• Collaborate with other maintenance and production teams to address equipment-related challenges.
• Follow safety protocols and adhere to preventive maintenance schedules.
• Keep accurate CMMS records of maintenance activities, repairs, and parts inventory.
• Stay updated with advancements in industrial technology and machinery.

Skills/Requirements:

• Experience: Proven experience as a Millwright, Strong in Mechanical and Electrical.
• Mechanical Systems: Knowledge of mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and welding.
• Electrical Systems: Read schematics and trace electrical faults.
• Blueprints: Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings and blueprints.
• Troubleshooting: Strong PLC troubleshooting and fault-finding skills.
• Physical: Physical fitness and dexterity to handle heavy machinery and equipment.
• Teamwork: Teamwork and communication skills for collaboration with other maintenance and production staff.
• Health & Safety Regulations: Familiarity with safety regulations and procedures in an industrial setting.
• Food Safety: Knowledge of GMP and FSSC/HACCP standards.
• Attention to Detail: Attention to detail and accuracy in performing maintenance tasks.
• Continuous Learning: Continuous learning and adaptability to new technologies and equipment in the industrial sector.
• Previous experience: FMCG Industry and Refrigeration preferred.

Qualifications:

• N3 -N6 Millwright Qualification Trade /Red Seal (Eletromechanician /Millwright Trade Tested) preferred At least 5 years, post trade , experience in a Millwright position
