Job summary

Lactalis South Africa, at its Bonnievale Plant, seeks an experienced Millwright in the Engineering department to handle installation, maintenance and fault diagnosis of packaging and processing equipment across butter, cheese and powder lines.

The ideal candidate will have a trade-tested Millwright Red Seal with at least 5 years in FMCG, PLC fault finding, pneumatic/hydraulic expertise, and the ability to work shifts in a hot, dusty environment.

Qualifications

• Trade-tested Millwright with FMCG industry experience.
• Minimum 5 years as a Millwright in FMCG environments.
• Experience with pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
• PLC fault diagnosis knowledge.
• Willingness to shift work, weekends and overtime.
• Fluent in English, computer literate.

Responsibilities

• Perform day-to-day and shutdown maintenance of processing, filling and packaging machinery.
• Achieve and maintain OEE between 80% and 85%.
• Complete maintenance schedules in Pragma maintenance system.
• Record accurate job cards and machine history.
• Provide operator training to service machines during production.
• Maintain tools and manage spares inventory.
• Adhere to NOSA and ISO 45000 implementation.
• Follow health, safety and hygiene regulations.

Job description

Role Purpose

Join Lactalis at our Bonnievale Plant in the Engineering department (Butter/Powder/Cheese and Specialty Cheese) with the main responsibilities is to ensure the assembly, installation, alteration, repair and testing as well as fault diagnosis of machinery parts and other equipment. This covers both the electrical/electronic and mechanical work. Utilizes a combination of skills. Will be responsible for the day to day and shutdown maintenance of the processing and filling and packing machinery pertaining to cheese, butter, whey UF, milk UF and powder manufacturing on a shift basis. The individual’s main area of responsibility pertaining to preventative maintenance and repairs. Successful candidates need to have at least 5 years' relevant experience within engineering field, FMCG environment, must be able to demonstrate sound knowledge of planned and preventative maintenance, experience on pneumatic and hydraulic systems and equipment. Be fluent in English and be computer literate.

Requirements

• Trade tested qualified Millwright Red Seal
• At least 5 years’ experience in the FMCG production environment
• Minimum of at least 5 years' experience as a Millwright
• Minimum Of 4 Years Packaging Experience Needed
• Experience on pneumatic and hydraulic systems and equipment
• Proven PLC knowledge to facilitate fault finding
• Knowledge of Drives and specialised sensors, etc.
• Knowledge of ASI valves, 24v control Top valves
• Self-motivator with good planning and organising skills
• Must be willing to work shifts, weekends, public holidays and overtime if required
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment to effectively meet deadlines and prioritize tasks.
• Person must be able to work in a hot dusty, humid & cold wet environment. Must be able to work under pressure.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Responsible for the day to day, planned scheduled maintenance, breakdowns and shutdown maintenance.
• To ensure that an OEE of between 80% and 85% is maintained at all times.
• Complete maintenance schedules on or before required dates on the Pragma maintenance system.
• Complete preventative maintenance schedules and make use of data to improve preventative-maintenance
• Feedback on job cards and machine history to be accurate and on time
• Maintain a two-way communication with department managers and supervisors
• Provide training to machine operators in order to service machines during normal production runs
• Ensure that tools are clean and in working order
• Manage and control spares inventory and critical spares
• Adhere at all times to the quality and hygiene standards of the plant
• Comply with Occupational Health and Safety regulations
• Do fault-finding on equipment and PLC systems
• Adhere to NOSA and ISO 45000 implementation
