Job summary

Humankind, a leading South African retail brand, is seeking an experienced Mid-Level Planner to join its Head Office Planning team. This role focuses on developing annual, seasonal and monthly merchandise plans and using data to support sales, profitability and inventory productivity.

You will collaborate with Buying, Merchandise, Retail Operations, Finance and Supply Chain to monitor stock, forecast demand, and ensure optimal stock levels and investment across categories.

Qualifications

• Experience in merchandise or retail planning.
• 2–4 years in planning roles.
• Retail experience essential.
• Strong analytical and numerical abilities.
• Proficient in Excel and reporting.

A leading South African retail brand is seeking an experienced Mid-Level Planner to join its Planning team at Head Office. This is an exciting opportunity for a commercially minded and analytical planning professional who can use data and insights to support sales, profitability and inventory productivity.

? Key Focus Areas

• Assist with the development and management of annual, seasonal and monthly merchandise plans
• Set and monitor sales, stock, margin and inventory targets
• Support accurate sales and demand forecasting
• Monitor category stock investment and inventory productivity
• Track stock turn, weeks of cover and stock availability
• Identify aged, obsolete and slow-moving stock and recommend actions
• Support allocation and replenishment decisions
• Analyse category performance and highlight commercial opportunities and risks
• Support promotional planning and markdown strategies
• Prepare planning reports, dashboards and business insights
• Provide recommendations to support effective business decision-making
• Work closely with Buying, Merchandise, Retail Operations, Finance and Supply Chain
• Contribute to the achievement of sales, margin and stock targets

? What We’re Looking For

• Degree in Commerce, Retail Management, Supply Chain, Statistics, Economics or a related field
• 2–4 years' experience in merchandise planning, retail planning or a similar commercial planning role
• Retail experience is essential
• Experience working with sales, stock, margin and inventory metrics
• Strong analytical and numerical skills
• Advanced Microsoft Excel and reporting skills
• Experience with merchandise planning systems would be advantageous
