About the Role

An excellent opportunity exists for a highly experienced Engineering Manager – Mechanical (15+ years) to lead the Mechanical Engineering Department and oversee the successful delivery of complex engineering projects.

This senior leadership position combines technical engineering expertise, departmental management, project oversight and the development of engineering teams.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in process plant engineering, particularly pressure vessels, heat exchangers and associated mechanical equipment, together with proven engineering management and leadership capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, manage and develop the Mechanical Engineering Department, including engineers, designers and draughtsmen.
• Provide technical leadership and oversight across multiple engineering projects.
• Oversee the design and engineering of pressure vessels, heat exchangers, piping systems and process plant equipment.
• Ensure engineering deliverables meet technical, quality, budget and project schedule requirements.
• Establish and maintain engineering standards, design procedures and quality assurance practices.
• Coordinate with other engineering disciplines, project managers, clients and suppliers.
• Manage departmental resources, workloads, technical performance and staff development.
• Provide strategic input into engineering capabilities, operational improvements and business growth.

Minimum Requirements

• BEng Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 15 years' experience in mechanical engineering, preferably within process plant or EPCM environments.
• Proven experience in engineering management, technical leadership and multidisciplinary project delivery.
• Strong technical background in pressure vessels, heat exchangers, piping systems and mechanical process equipment.
• Sound knowledge of relevant international engineering codes and standards, including ASME, EN and SANS.
• Experience managing engineering teams, departmental resources, budgets and project deliverables.
• Strong leadership, communication, decision-making and client engagement skills.
• ECSA Professional Registration (Pr Eng) highly advantageous.
