Job summary

Portfolio Interior Design in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, seeks a Mid-Level Interior Designer to take projects from concept through to implementation, collaborating with clients, suppliers, contractors and the internal design team.

The role requires exceptional attention to detail, strong technical drawing skills, proficiency with design software, and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines while delivering high-end residential interiors.

Qualifications

• Relevant Interior Design qualification.
• 3+ years’ experience in a professional interior design environment.
• Experience with high-end residential interiors would be highly advantageous.
• Strong understanding of finishes, materials, furniture and joinery.
• Strong technical drawing and documentation skills.
• Proficiency in design software.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
• Valid driver’s licence and own reliable vehicle.
• A professional, polished and client-focused approach.

Responsibilities

• Developing interior design concepts, moodboards and presentations.
• Preparing and coordinating detailed design documentation.
• Selecting finishes, materials, furniture, lighting and décor.
• Developing and reviewing joinery and detailed design drawings.
• Preparing specifications, schedules and pricing information.
• Liaising directly with clients and confidently presenting design concepts.
• Managing client feedback, revisions and approvals.
• Communicating with suppliers, contractors and tradespeople.
• Attending site meetings and conducting site inspections when required.
• Coordinating with architects, contractors and other consultants.
• Ensuring design intent is maintained through procurement and installation.
• Assisting with procurement, ordering and project administration.
• Managing multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
• Taking responsibility for the accuracy and quality of your work from concept through to completion.
