Job summary

Decision Inc. is seeking an experienced Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations Developer with strong X++ and Electronic Reporting (ER) expertise to join our team in Johannesburg.

The role focuses on ER, e-invoicing, and BAU support, collaborating with functional and technical colleagues to design, develop, troubleshoot, and maintain D365 F&O solutions. You will design and customize D365 F&O using X++, configure ER solutions, and manage integrations with Azure Logic Apps and Functions.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of hands-on X++ development within Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations.
• Proven Electronic Reporting (ER) experience within D365 F&O.
• Experience designing, configuring, and troubleshooting ER and e‑invoicing solutions.
• Strong SQL, SSRS, and data integration knowledge in a multi-country setting.
• Experience with Azure DevOps for source control, builds, and CI/CD pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and customize D365 F&O solutions using X++, including forms and reports.
• Configure and maintain ER solutions; support e-invoicing across jurisdictions.
• Develop integrations using Azure Logic Apps, Functions, and other tools.
• Maintain data migrations, transformations, and synchronisation with Dataverse/ Dual-write.
• Review, optimise, and troubleshoot X++ code; provide client support and issue resolution.
• Participate in deployments, estimations, testing, and project delivery.
• Contribute to pre‑sales input, demos, and solution recommendations.
• Stay updated on D365 F&O upgrades and regulatory changes; mentor teammates.

We are looking for a skilled Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations Developer with strong X++ and Electronic Reporting (ER) experience to join our team.

This role will have a particular focus on Electronic Reporting and e-invoicing, supporting Business-as-Usual (BAU) tickets, issues, and regulatory requirements across multiple countries. The successful candidate will work closely with technical and functional teams to design, develop, troubleshoot, and maintain D365 F&O solutions, with a particular focus on Electronic Reporting and related e-invoicing requirements.

What Will You Do?

Key Responsibility:

Development & Customisation

• Design, develop, and customise Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations solutions using X++, including forms, reports, classes, tables, batch jobs, and business logic.
• Translate functional and technical requirements into scalable, maintainable solutions using Azure DevOps for source control, branching, builds, pipelines, and deployments.

Electronic Reporting & E-Invoicing – Core Responsibility

• Design, configure, develop, maintain, and troubleshoot D365 F&O Electronic Reporting (ER) solutions.
• Support e-invoicing and country-specific regulatory reporting requirements across multiple jurisdictions.
• Manage BAU ER tickets and incidents, investigate root causes, and implement solutions within agreed SLAs.
• Support ongoing regulatory changes and contribute to strengthening the team’s Electronic Reporting capability.

Integrations & Data

• Develop and maintain integrations between D365 F&O and other business systems using Azure Logic Apps, Azure Functions, and third‑party tools.
• Support data migration, transformation, and synchronisation activities, with exposure to Dataverse, Dual‑write, and SQL.

Code Quality & Support

• Review, optimise, maintain, and troubleshoot X++ code and existing customisations.
• Provide technical support to clients, resolve BAU issues, and ensure solutions meet agreed quality and SLA requirements.
• Conduct root‑cause analysis and implement sustainable technical solutions.

Implementation & Project Delivery

• Participate in D365 F&O implementations, enhancements, fit‑gap analysis, technical design, estimation, testing, and deployment.
• Work closely with functional consultants and business stakeholders to deliver effective technical solutions.

Client & Pre‑Sales Support

• Provide technical input into client engagements, solution assessments, RFI/RFP/RFQ responses, Statements of Work, estimates, and proposals.
• Support technical demonstrations, prototypes, and solution recommendations where required.

Upgrades, Regulatory Change & Continuous Improvement

• Support D365 F&O upgrades, Microsoft releases, and regulatory changes impacting ER and e-invoicing.
• Stay current with D365 F&O, X++, Electronic Reporting, e‑invoicing, and relevant technologies.
• Maintain technical documentation, accurately record project and billable activities, and contribute to team standards and knowledge sharing.
• Mentor team members and help build the organisation’s Electronic Reporting expertise.

Who Do You Need to Be?

• Minimum 3 years of hands‑on experience in X++ development within Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations.
• Proven Electronic Reporting (ER) experience within D365 F&O is essential.
• Practical experience developing, configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting Electronic Reporting solutions.
• Experience working with electronic invoicing / e‐invoicing solutions will be highly relevant.
• Experience supporting BAU Electronic Reporting tickets and technical issues.
• Experience working with Electronic Reporting requirements across multiple countries or jurisdictions will be advantageous.
• Strong proficiency in X++ and Visual Studio.
• Good understanding of SQL and D365 F&O data structures.
• Experience with Azure DevOps, including source control, branching, merging, builds, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with Microsoft SSRS.
• Experience with integrations and technologies such as Azure Logic Apps and Azure Functions will be advantageous.
• Knowledge of Dataverse and Dual‑write will be advantageous.
• Experience with full lifecycle D365 F&O implementations will be advantageous.
