Job summary

Sasolburg, South Africa, is seeking a Metallurgical Engineer I to provide metallurgical engineering support aligned with area targets. You will execute metallurgical R&D projects addressing long-term and/or repetitive failures to improve asset integrity and reliability.

Responsibilities include failure analyses, corrosion studies, flow diagram updates, and cross-disciplinary collaboration to deliver robust metallurgical solutions and governance in line with safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• University bachelor’s degree in metallurgy or related field.
• ECSA professional engineer registration beneficial.
• Minimum 3 years relevant experience.

Responsibilities

• Conduct failure analyses, corrosion studies, and material recommendations.
• Update metallurgical and corrosion flow diagrams.
• Provide adhoc metallurgical expert support for projects.
• Interface with other engineering disciplines and external providers.
• Ensure governance of metallurgical engineering activities.
• Drive proactive plant engineering and technical support.
