Job summary

The Department of Health invites applications for a Messenger to support hospital operations. You will collect ward boxes, distribute medicines to outlets, and run pharmacy errands across the hospital, ensuring timely delivery of TTOs and stock handling.

Requirements include Grade 10-12 or equivalent NQF Level 3-5, 1–3 years’ Messenger experience, and a valid driver’s licence. PSC checks and medical surveillance may apply; disability-friendly. Closing date: 21-08-2026.

Responsibilities

• Collect ward boxes from wards to pharmacy.

• Assist with stock receiving from suppliers and distribution of medicines outside the hospital.

Job description

Requirements :

• Grade 10-12 or equivalent NQF level 3-5. 1-3 years proven experience as a messenger. Ability to work in a team environment, under pressure and meet deadlines. Extensive Knowledge of Batho-Pele principles. Excellent verbal and written communication. Good interpersonal skills and valid driver’s licence will be an added advantage.

Duties :

• Collection of ward boxes from wards to pharmacy. Distribution of medicines to all outlets in the hospital. Distribution of TTO’S to all wards. Run errands in the pharmacy. Assist with receiving of stocks from suppliers. Collection and distribution of medicines outside the Hospital. Assist with other duties as instructed by the supervisor.
