The Role: MEP Mechanical BIM Modeller
Job Profile
The incumbent acts as an MEP Mechanical BIM Modeller within the MEP consulting engineering team at Henry Fagan (Pty) Ltd and is responsible for the preparation of MEP services drawings and 3D models for projects using AutoCAD, Revit, and Navisworks software. The role supports the engineering team in delivering accurate, coordinated, and quality-assured project documentation in line with project requirements, professional standards, and the company’s Quality Management System (QMS).
This position reports to the Director: Energy & Building Services
The incumbent will be based in Johannesburg and may be required to coordinate with project teams and stakeholders outside of the office when necessary
Responsibilities
BIM and Drawing Production
- Interpret and produce MEP services drawings in AutoCAD and Revit MEP.
- Ensure correct transfer of design information to construction drawings.
- Oversee and maintain project drawing registers.
- Ensure professionalism, accuracy, and quality in all design and project documentation
Coordination and Collaboration
- Liaise with other professional team members, BIM operators, and project stakeholders.
- Coordinate MEP services drawings with other disciplines to ensure clash-free design.
- Attend MEP services coordination meetings.
- Assist the engineering team in developing and communicating project goals and deliverables.
- Support assessment of project teamwork to ensure successful completion of deliverables.
Project Oversight and Quality Compliance
- Assist in monitoring project production efforts to ensure projects are completed satisfactorily, on time, and within budget.
- Comply with Henry Fagan’s Quality Management System (QMS) and ensure all drawings and BIM outputs meet ISO 9001 requirements.
- Contribute to continual improvement of drafting and BIM processes within the MEP team.
Qualification & Experience
- N6 or Grade 12 qualification.
- Minimum of 5 – 10 years’ experience in the built environment as a draughtsperson or BIM operator for MEP projects.
- Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD 3D.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Fundamentals, Revit MEP Essentials, and Navisworks.
- Knowledge of Quality Management Systems (QMS) and ISO 9001 requirements (advantageous).
