Placements24 is seeking a proactive Media Relations Coordinator for our client in Soweto, Gauteng. You will assist the media relations team with communications strategies, handle media inquiries, and nurture relationships with journalists and influencers in a dynamic, hybrid setting.

Ideal candidates have a degree in communications-related fields, 0–2 years’ experience, strong writing, organization, and teamwork skills, plus a willingness to learn and grow in the South African media landscape.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Communications, PR, Journalism, Marketing, or related field.
• 0–2 years of experience in media relations or similar roles (internships valued).
• Excellent written and verbal communication with high attention to detail.
• Strong organizational and time management abilities.

Responsibilities

• Assist in development and implementation of media relations strategies.
• Monitor media coverage and compile regular reports on mentions and sentiment.
• Respond to routine media inquiries and direct complex queries to team members.
• Build and maintain a database of media contacts and influencers.
• Support drafting and distribution of press releases and media advisories.
• Coordinate media events, interviews, and press conferences.
• Assist in preparation of media kits and communication materials.
• Conduct research on media trends and competitor activities.
• Provide administrative support to the media relations team.
