Placements24 is seeking a proactive Media Relations Officer to join our team in Rustenburg with a hybrid work model. You will build and nurture relationships with media contacts, craft key messages, and manage the company's public profile locally and nationally.

The role requires a strategic thinker with strong writing and coordination skills, capable of handling media inquiries, distributing press materials, monitoring coverage, and supporting crisis communications in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field.
• 4+ years of experience in media relations or public relations.
• Proven track record of securing media placements and managing reporter relationships.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage projects, prioritize tasks, and meet tight deadlines.
• Familiarity with media databases and monitoring tools.

Responsibilities

• Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with local, national, and international media.
• Proactively pitch stories and manage media inquiries to secure positive coverage.
• Develop and distribute press releases, media alerts, and other press materials.
• Monitor media coverage and track sentiment, reporting key findings.
• Support the planning and execution of media events and press conferences.
• Assist in developing crisis communication strategies and response plans.
