Placements24 is seeking a Mechanical Systems Design Engineer in Tembisa, Gauteng, to drive design, development, and integration of complex mechanical systems for cutting-edge products.

You will create 3D CAD models, perform analyses, and collaborate with electrical, software, and manufacturing teams to ensure robust, manufacturable solutions. A bachelor's degree and 3–5 years hands-on experience are required.

Competenze

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• 3–5 years of hands-on mechanical system design and development.
• Proficient with CAD tools (SolidWorks, Inventor) and simulation tools (ANSYS, COMSOL).
• Strong understanding of mechanical principles and prototyping/testing experience.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes (machining, 3D printing, injection molding).

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize mechanical systems and subsystems from concept to production.
• Create detailed 3D CAD models, 2D drawings, and Bills of Materials (BOMs) using relevant software.
• Perform engineering analysis, including stress, thermal, and vibration analysis, to validate designs.
• Collaborate with electrical, software, and manufacturing engineers to ensure seamless system integration.
• Develop and execute testing procedures for prototypes and production units.
• Document design specifications, test results, and technical reports.
• Troubleshoot mechanical issues and implement effective design solutions.
• Stay abreast of new technologies and industry best practices in mechanical engineering.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of design processes and product quality.
• Work closely with manufacturing partners to ensure manufacturability and cost-effectiveness of designs.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• 3-5 years of hands-on experience in mechanical system design and development.
• Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor) and simulation tools (e.g., ANSYS, COMSOL).
• Solid understanding of mechanical principles, including kinematics, dynamics, thermodynamics, and material science.
• Experience with prototyping and testing of mechanical components and systems.
