Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a diligent Mechanical Maintenance Technician to support operations in Richards Bay. You will perform diagnostics, repairs, and preventive maintenance on pumps, motors, conveyors, and gearboxes, aiming to minimize production downtime.

The ideal candidate has at least 3 years of hands-on experience, strong knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics and power transmission, and the ability to read mechanical drawings. Welding and fabrication are a plus.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience as a Mechanical Maintenance Technician or similar.
• Strong understanding of hydraulics, pneumatics, and power transmission.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and schematics.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on pumps, motors, conveyors, and gearboxes.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical failures using precision tools and diagnostic equipment.
• Interpret blueprints, manuals, and schematics to facilitate repairs and installations.
• Conduct welding, machining, and fabrication as needed.
• Document maintenance activities in the CMMS system.
• Follow safety protocols including lockout/tagout.
• Maintain a safe working environment in Richards Bay.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on mechanical equipment, including pumps, motors, conveyors, and gearboxes.
