Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a skilled Mechanical Maintenance Technician to join its East London operations on-site. You will maintain the mechanical integrity of critical equipment in oil and gas facilities, performing preventive and corrective maintenance and troubleshooting to ensure continuous plant operation.

You will read mechanical drawings, interpret manuals, and work with pumps, valves, and compressors.

Qualifications

• Read and interpret mechanical drawings, blueprints and manuals.
• Minimum 3 years of experience as a Mechanical Maintenance Technician in an industrial or oil and gas environment.
• Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing mechanical equipment.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine preventative maintenance on pumps, compressors, valves, and other mechanical equipment.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical failures, minimizing downtime.
• Read and interpret mechanical drawings, blueprints, and manuals.
• Operate and maintain shop equipment safely.
• Assist in installation and commissioning of new mechanical equipment.

About the Role

Our client requires a skilled Mechanical Maintenance Technician to join their operations team in East London . This is an essential on-site role focused on maintaining the mechanical integrity and operational efficiency of critical equipment within their oil and gas production facilities. You will perform preventative and corrective maintenance, troubleshoot equipment failures, and ensure all mechanical systems operate safely and reliably, contributing directly to the continuous operation of the plant.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine preventative maintenance on pumps, compressors, valves, and other mechanical equipment.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical failures, ensuring minimal downtime.
• Read and interpret mechanical drawings, blueprints, and technical manuals.
• Operate and maintain shop equipment and tools safely and efficiently.
• Assist in the installation and commissioning of new mechanical equipment.
• Ensure adherence to all safety procedures and work permit requirements during maintenance activities.

Requirements

• Trade Test Certificate (e.g., Fitter and Turner, Millwright) or equivalent qualification.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Mechanical Maintenance Technician in an industrial or oil and gas environment .
• Proficiency in troubleshooting and repairing various types of mechanical equipment.
• Strong understanding of mechanical principles, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
• Ability to work effectively in a team and independently on-site, with a strong commitment to safety.
