Placements24 is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician for our Port Elizabeth plant. You will perform preventative maintenance, diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical issues, and minimize downtime on critical equipment.

The role requires reading blueprints/schematics, using diagnostic tools, and maintaining records while adhering to safety standards in a manufacturing setting.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Maintenance Technician in industrial/manufacturing settings.
• Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude with troubleshooting ability.
• Familiarity with reading blueprints, schematics and manuals.
• Knowledge of safety procedures such as lockout/tagout.

Responsibilities

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled and dedicated Maintenance Technician to ensure the optimal functioning of industrial machinery at their plant in Port Elizabeth . This hands-on role involves performing routine preventative maintenance, diagnosing and repairing complex mechanical and electrical issues, and ensuring minimal downtime for critical equipment. You will be a key member of the operations team, contributing directly to the plant's productivity and efficiency. Key Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on all plant machinery and equipment according to manufacturer specifications.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems failures in a timely manner.
• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals to troubleshoot and repair equipment.
• Respond to equipment breakdowns and perform emergency repairs to minimize production interruptions in Port Elizabeth .
• Maintain detailed records of all maintenance activities, including parts used and labor hours.
• Adhere to all safety protocols and company procedures while performing maintenance tasks.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Maintenance Technician in an industrial or manufacturing setting.
• Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude, with experience in troubleshooting complex machinery.
• Proficiency in using hand and power tools, as well as diagnostic equipment.
• Ability to read and understand technical drawings, schematics, and manuals.
• Knowledge of safety procedures related to industrial maintenance, including lockout/tagout.
• A relevant trade qualification or certification in mechanical or electrical maintenance is highly preferred.
