Job summary

Mindworx Consulting and Academy is seeking a senior Mechanical Engineer to lead construction and rotating equipment installation across major energy infrastructure projects. You will act as the site authority for mechanical systems, overseeing storage tanks, piping networks, pumps, and firewater packages.

You will work within an Owner’s/PMC team, ensuring compliance with API, ASME, NFPA, and ISO standards, plus safety and project schedules.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with 10+ years industrial experience.
• 5+ years site-based EPC project execution.
• Experience with storage tanks, piping networks, pumps, and firewater systems.
• Familiar with API 650/653, ASME, NFPA, ISO, and SANS.
• Fabrication oversight, welding, NDT, hydrotesting, and pipe supports.
• Site HSE, hot work permits, confined space, lifting, SIMOPS.

Responsibilities

• Inspect site fabrication, welding, NDT, shell erection, and rotating equipment alignment to ensure zero construction defects.
• Review piping isometrics, method statements, hydrotest packages, and contractor QA/QC documentation prior to execution.
• Manage system punch lists, pre-commissioning procedures, and cross-functional interfaces to drive seamless handover to operations.

Ready to lead complex mechanical execution on large-scale energy infrastructure? We are looking for a high-caliber Mechanical Engineer to drive construction, rotating equipment installation, and mechanical completion across critical petroleum and storage facilities.

Operating within the Owner’s/PMC team, you will serve as the primary site authority for mechanical systems across major EPC energy projects. You will oversee the delivery of storage tanks, complex piping networks, pump systems, and firewater packages—ensuring strict alignment with global standards, structural integrity, and project schedules.

The Tech Stack Deep-Dive

Core Disciplines & Technical Competencies (Must-Haves):

• Qualifications & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with 10+ years of industrial experience (including 5+ years of site-based EPC project execution).
• Mechanical & Piping Systems: Storage tanks, piping networks, pumps, manifolds, loading/offloading systems, and firewater infrastructure.
• Codes & International Standards: Deep familiarity with API (including API 650 / API 653 tank principles), ASME, ASTM, NFPA, ANSI, ISO, and SANS.
• Fabrication & Quality Controls: Fabrication and installation oversight, welding execution, NDT, pressure testing/hydrotesting, pipe supports, and rotating equipment alignment.
• Site HSE & Risk: Working knowledge of hazardous area controls, hot work permits, confined space entry, lifting operations, and SIMOPS.

Certifications & Engineering Tools (Nice-to-Haves):

• Professional Registrations: Pr.Eng (ECSA), Chartered Engineer, PMP, API, CSWIP, AWS, NEBOSH, or IOSH certifications.
• Project Lifecycle Scope: Hands-on experience taking oil & gas or storage terminal facilities through pre-commissioning, commissioning, start-up, and final handover.
• Software & Documentation: Proficiency in interpreting P&IDs, piping isometrics, equipment datasheets, punch lists, and MS Office tracking tools.
