About the Role

Our client, a key player in the industrial processing sector, is seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to focus on the design of process equipment. This is an on-site role based in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga, ZA , where you will be involved in the complete design cycle of specialized machinery and systems used in various industrial processes. You will collaborate with process engineers, production teams, and external suppliers to develop robust, efficient, and safe equipment solutions. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in mechanical design, an understanding of material science, and experience with pressure vessel design and fluid handling systems. Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop specialized mechanical equipment for industrial processes, including reactors, mixers, pumps, and heat exchangers.
• Create detailed 3D models, 2D drawings, and P&IDs using CAD software such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD.
• Perform engineering calculations and analysis, including stress analysis (FEA), thermal analysis, and fluid dynamics for equipment design.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant industry codes and standards (e.g., ASME, PED).
• Collaborate with process engineers to understand operational requirements and translate them into mechanical designs.
• Specify materials of construction, seals, bearings, and other components based on process conditions and performance requirements.
• Support the procurement process by generating BOMs and technical specifications for fabricated equipment.
• Work closely with manufacturing and fabrication teams during the construction and assembly phases of equipment.
• Conduct root cause analysis for equipment failures and implement design improvements.
• Assist in commissioning and troubleshooting of new process equipment.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a relevant engineering discipline.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in mechanical design, with a focus on process equipment for industrial applications.
