Job summary

MSP Staffing (PTY) LTD seeks an experienced Mechanical Discipline Lead to head up the mechanical engineering team from their Randburg office. The role requires registration as a PrEng and a strong background in building services, HVAC and wet services.

The successful candidate will lead multidisciplinary teams, ensure design quality, and drive project delivery with a focus on safety, standards, and client engagement across projects in South Africa.

Qualifications

• 8+ years’ post-registration experience in mechanical engineering.
• Experience in building services environment, HVAC and wet services.
• Registered with ECSA (PrEng) and licensed.
• Willingness to travel to project sites and valid driver’s licence.
• Master’s degree is advantageous.
• Knowledge of local and international standards and legislation.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
• Ability to lead technical teams in multidisciplinary environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the mechanical engineering team with technical direction and line management.
• Coordinate mechanical engineering services with multidisciplinary project teams.
• Prepare and review design and construction documentation, including drawings, reports and data analyses.
• Monitor construction activities and conduct technical inspections and audits for compliance.
• Verify construction work against specifications and approved designs.

• Participate in factory and site testing, commissioning, and related activities.
• Implement and manage quality assurance and quality control procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

Requirements:

• BSc/BEng in Mechanical Engineering preferred.
• Professionally registered with ECSA (PrEng).
• 8+ years’ post-registration experience in mechanical engineering.
• Proven experience within the building services environment, particularly HVAC and wet services.
• Sound knowledge and practical application of relevant local and international standards and legislation.
• Strong understanding of project safety requirements.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to lead technical teams and work effectively in multidisciplinary environments.
• Willingness to travel to project sites.
• Valid driver’s licence.
• Master’s degree will be advantageous.
