Job summary

MyCareerCraft seeks a Mechanical Product Design Engineer to design, develop and test mechanical products for the factory team, reporting to the Principal Engineer.

You will lead projects from concept to implementation, ensuring standards are followed, and drive cost-saving initiatives while collaborating with internal and external customers.

Qualifications

• National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (NQF 6) required.
• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (NQF 7) is advantageous.
• 5 years' engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
• 3 years at supervisory level.
• Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor and Autodesk Vault.
• Able to read and interpret technical drawings.
• Knowledge of production processes and jigs and fixtures design.
• Project scoping and costing skills.
• Basic hand skills (grinding, machining, welding).
• Proactive, analytical and a strong problem solver.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and test products and components to meet customer and factory requirements
• Make sure designs follow standards and regulations
• Find and run improvement and cost-saving projects
• Manage projects from design to implementation, on time and within budget
• Help with budgets and keep spending under control
• Identify and report risks, and keep accurate records
