Job summary

MyCareerCraft in Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth) is seeking a Mechanical Product Design Engineer to design, develop and test mechanical products and components for the factory team. You will report to the Principal Engineer and drive projects from concept through to implementation.

The role requires a National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, with a Bachelor's degree advantageous, and about 5 years of manufacturing experience including 3 years in a supervisory capacity.

Qualifications

• National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (NQF 6) required.
• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (NQF 7) is advantageous.
• 5 years engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
• 3 years at supervisory level.
• Strong skills with Autodesk Inventor and Autodesk Vault.
• Able to read and interpret technical drawings.
• Knowledge of production processes and jigs/fixtures design.
• Project scoping and costing skills.
• Basic hand skills (grinding, machining, welding).
• Proactive, analytical and strong problem solver.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and test products and components to meet customer and factory requirements.
• Ensure designs follow standards and regulations.
• Identify improvement and cost-saving projects and execute them.
• Manage projects from design to implementation, on time and within budget.
• Assist with budgets and monitor spending.
• Identify and report risks, maintain accurate records.
• Build good working relationships with internal and external customers.
