Job summary

Placements24 seeks a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Paarl team. Hybrid role spanning on-site design work with remote documentation and analysis. You will craft detailed CAD models, run FEA/CFD validations, and collaborate across electrical, software, and manufacturing teams to deliver robust mechanical systems.

We value a strong Mechanical Engineering foundation, 5+ years in design of industrial machinery, and proficiency in SolidWorks, CATIA or Inventor. DFM/ DFA knowledge is a bonus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field and minimum 5 years in mechanical design.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD software and experience with FEA/CFD simulation tools.
• Strong understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, and mechanical principles.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical components and systems for industrial machinery using CAD software.
• Create detailed 3D models, 2D drawings, and BOMs; validate designs with FEA/CFD.
• Collaborate with electrical, software and manufacturing teams to integrate mechanical designs.
• Develop prototypes, conduct tests, analyze results, and refine designs.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and customer requirements.
