Job summary

Interpath in Cape Town is forming a Transaction Services team to support deals for private equity and corporate clients. You will lead FDD workstreams, build core analyses of trading performance, and manage information requests with a focus on high-quality, traceable output.

The role requires 7–10 years post-qualification, strong excel and data analytics skills, and the ability to supervise and coach junior colleagues.

Qualifications

• Qualified accountant with CA/SA/ACA/ACCA or equivalent.
• Approximately 7–10 years post-qualification experience.
• Experience leading FDD workstreams independently.
• Proven ability to supervise junior colleagues and deliver feedback.
• Strong understanding of earnings, net debt and working capital.

Responsibilities

• Lead FDD workstreams day-to-day from info requests to findings.
• Own analysis of target trading performance, earnings and debt.
• Prepare draft sections for reports and ensure traceability.
• Manage information requests and answer-packs, escalate as needed.
• Supervise Associates/Senior Analysts and deliver coaching.
• Present findings to deal team and participate in management meetings.
• Monitor timelines and budgets, adjust scope as required.

Interpath’s Deals team supports clients throughout the deal lifecycle, providing financial due diligence, carve-out and valuation support on domestic and cross-border transactions. We are looking for a talented Manager to join our newly launched Transaction Services team in Cape Town and deliver projects for an exciting mix of clients including top tier Private Equity and Corporate clients. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a start-up team within an established and successful business.

Managers at Interpath works across the entire deal life cycle, delivering buy-side & sell-side projects for high profile clients and working closely with M&A, Value Creation and Debt Advisory colleagues within Interpath. They also benefit from ongoing training and development in addition to mentoring from our Directors and Managing Directors to build their networks and gain experience of business development and stakeholder management.

• Lead financial due diligence workstreams on a day-to-day basis, from the initial information request through to drafted findings.

• Build and own the core analysis of the target's trading performance, earnings, working capital and net debt position.

• Take responsibility for the supporting analysis pack, ensuring that every figure can be traced back to source records.

• Prepare the first draft of the report sections covering your workstreams, to a standard that can be reviewed rather than rewritten.

• Manage the information request and question-and-answer process, following up on outstanding items and escalating where information is not forthcoming.

• Supervise and review the work of Assistant Managers and Senior Associates before it is submitted.

• Manage and develop a small group of colleagues, covering objectives, regular feedback, appraisals and development planning.

• Coach colleagues on live engagements and deliver technical training to the team in your areas of strength.

• Present findings and key observations to the wider deal team and take part in management meetings.

• Manage timelines and budget, proactively identifying and communicating any changes to scope or delivery requirements.

Experience

• Qualified accountant - CA (ICAI), CA (SA), ACA, ACCA or equivalent.

• Around 7 to 10 years post-qualification, of which at least 5 in transaction services or financial due diligence.

• Has run FDD workstreams independently and reviewed the work of others.

• Experience of supervising and developing junior colleagues, including delivering difficult feedback.

• Strong grasp of quality of earnings, net debt and working capital, and of why each matters to the buyer.

• Advanced Excel skills and confidence in handling large and poorly structured datasets.

• Clear written English to report standard.

• Works effectively to transaction deadlines and is comfortable operating with incomplete information.

Desirable Experience

• Experience designing or delivering technical training and capability-building initiatives.

• Sector expertise in Industrials, Business Services, Consumer, Healthcare, Technology, or related industries.

• Exposure to both buy-side and sell-side engagements.

• Experience using data analytics and visualization tools such as Alteryx, Power Query, or Power BI.

• Familiarity with UK and/or European transaction environments and deal processes.
