Job summary

DSV – Global transport and logistics in Cape Town seeks a Manager, Senior Operations, Road to maximise operational efficiency and oversee Inland Branches, policies and new projects. You will drive performance, lead teams, and ensure service levels align with customer commitments.

The role requires extensive experience in logistics operations, people management and the ability to travel across South Africa. You will partner with shared functions and manage costs to achieve the annual budget goals.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years people management experience.
• Minimum of 5 years' experience in operations management, particularly logistics & projects.
• IR related issues and Industrial Relations hands-on experience.
• 3 years budgeting and financial controls experience.
• Own vehicle with a valid driver's license and ability to travel within South Africa.

Responsibilities

• To manage the delivery of the Road Logistics objectives through communication, measurement and motivation of the staff.
• To interface with shared functions ensuring continued cooperation and interactions with these functions.
• To manage and deliver on client's commitments based on agreed strategy.
• To manage cost and productivity within the Division ensuring efficiency and effectiveness.
• To ensure compliance to internal and external controls and KPI’s.
• To deliver on the bottom-line budget commitment to meet the business unit budget.
• To identify opportunities and risks within the business that may impact performance.
• Managing people’s performance and growth to create a sustainable business environment.
• Ensure customer service standards and SLA’s are met with collections and deliveries within required standards.
• Deliver on KPI metrics within Operations.
• Execute Operational tasks in line with company strategy.

Main purpose of the role:

• Maximise the operational efficiency and effectiveness of the Inland Beanches and the implementation of policies, procedures and new business initiatives, ensuring the achievement of the goals outlined in the company strategy.

Job related requirements:

• Minimum of 5 years people management experience
• Minimum of 5 years' experience in the following areas:
  • Operations management, particular logistics & Projects
  • IR related issues
  • Customer relationship management
  • Transport management
  • Courier operations
• 3 years budgeting and financial controls experience
• Own vehicle with a valid driver's license
• Ability to travel
• Flexible to travel within South Africa as required
• Comprehensive knowledge of the LRA and BCEA and hands-on experience in Industrial Relations (disciplinary enquiries)
• Self-motivated and assertive
• Good communication skills
• Ability to manage and develop team skills and leadership
• Ability to implement new projects with the project teams (crucial)
• Be able to Communciate on Senior Mangament Level
• Keep the Operational Team motivatded and Developed

Electives

• Previous experience in operations and liaison with clients and branches
• Proven track record in managing national projects

Qualification

• Diploma or Degree in Transport, Logistics or Supply Chain, and or Business Management/Administration - (Essential)

• To identify opportunities and risks within the business that may impact the business environment and ability to deliver to shareholder commitments.
• Managing people’s performance and growth to create a sustainable business environment.
• Ensure that customer service standards and Service Level Agreements (SLA) are met by achieving collections and deliveries within the required standard to ensure client satisfaction.
• Deliver on set and agreed KPi Metrics within Operations.
• Excecute Operational task inline with the company strategy.
