Job summary

Pick n Pay Retailers in South Africa seeks a Clothing Assistant Manager to drive store operations, customer service excellence and promotional execution. You will assist the Store Manager, lead a team, and ensure VM standards.

The role requires Grade 12, managerial experience, and proficiency with MS Outlook, Excel, Word, and virtual meeting tools. You will recruit, train and develop staff while maintaining high energy and a customer-centric approach.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 (NQF Level 4) or equivalent.
• Previous managerial experience.
• Computer literate – MS Outlook, Excel, Word.
• MS Teams/Zoom familiarity and ability to coordinate meetings.

Responsibilities

• Assist Store Manager with functions and lead staff on a store level.
• Oversee daily operations, scheduling, pricing, stock, and housekeeping.
• Ensure VM standards are followed and promotions executed.
• Drive sales, promotions, and adherence to budgets.
• Maintain OHS standards and risk controls.

(Assist Store Manager with functions)

• Manage all people related aspects on an ongoing bases for staff
• Able to deal with employee shortcomings if/when needed
• Assist with recruitment on a store level according to company policy and procedures
• Assist with Identify training and Development initiatives for employees
• Assist with performance management – focus on talent management and succession planning
• Able to lead and manage a team of employees
• Assist with identify training initiatives and develop staff accordingly

Daily Operations/Stock Management/Risk Management

• Opening and locking of store in accordance with the company security procedures
• Conducting start & end of day reporting and procedures
• Conducting administration (staff scheduling & leave, invoices, pricing, costs, floats & banking, expense control, reconciliations, CDC and head office instructions etc) per company standards and procedures
• Ensuring merchandise is offloaded, captured, packed, merchandised & displayed per company policy
• Monitoring quality and controlling soilage of merchandise and taking appropriate action
• Controlling shrinkage
• Ensure that OHS standards are adhered to at all times

Sales/Promotions

• Promoting sales to achieve budgets and monitoring sales, turnover and participation
• Conducting promotions
• Implementation of markdowns and RTC’s
