Job summary

Sigma Connected Group is seeking a proactive Maintenance Technician to uphold the safety, functionality and presentation of our Diep River facilities. You will perform preventative and reactive tasks, with emphasis on building systems, plumbing, and electrical upkeep to ensure uninterrupted operations.

You will work both independently and with teams, log activities in our ticketing system, and liaise with contractors.

Qualifications

  • 2 - 5 years of experience in a maintenance role.
  • Basic understanding of hand tools and mechanical/electrical concepts.
  • Good communication skills and strong work ethics.
  • Willingness to learn and develop technical skills.

Responsibilities

  • Attend to plumbing issues, drainage repairs, floor-covering maintenance, and routine building upkeep.
  • Carry out basic electrical repairs and replace light bulbs where safe and appropriate.
  • Complete routine painting and touch-ups to maintain building presentation standards.
  • Perform minor carpentry work and support heating and cooling systems upkeep.
  • Maintain, repair, and manage lockers and security systems as required.
  • Monitor and report on building inspections and safety compliance.

What Your Day-to-Day Will Look Like:

As our Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for ensuring all Sigma facilities, equipment, and building systems remain safe, functional, and well maintained. You will carry out preventative and reactive maintenance activities while supporting the smooth day-to-day operation of our sites.

You'll:

  • Attend to plumbing issues, drainage repairs, floor-covering maintenance, and routine building upkeep.
  • Carry out basic electrical repairs and replace light bulbs where safe and appropriate.
  • Complete routine painting and touch-ups to maintain building presentation standards.
  • Perform minor carpentry work and support the upkeep of heating and cooling systems.
  • Maintain, arrange, repair, and manage lockers, including lock cuts when required.
  • Monitor, maintain, and refill water dispensers across facilities.
  • Conduct mandatory daily, weekly, and monthly building inspections and compliance checks.
  • Complete, maintain, and update building inspection checklists, ensuring all findings, corrective actions, and outstanding items are accurately recorded.
  • Conduct regular inspections to identify faults, defects, and potential issues before they impact operations.
  • Diagnose maintenance-related faults and implement effective repairs to minimise downtime and operational disruption.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to maintenance requests, prioritising work based on operational impact and business requirements.
  • Utilise the ticketing system to log, manage, update, and close maintenance requests in line with service level expectations.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities, job updates, and completion notes are accurately recorded within the ticketing system.
  • Work efficiently to resolve maintenance issues and deliver timely solutions that support operational continuity within a fast-paced contact centre environment.
  • Ensure plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and safety systems are repaired and maintained as required.
  • Support senior technicians with inspections, equipment repairs, and preventative maintenance activities.
  • Escort suppliers, contractors, and service providers on-site, ensuring compliance with health, safety, and security requirements.
  • Liaise with suppliers and contractors regarding repairs, maintenance activities, and facility requirements.
  • Monitor outstanding defects and inspection findings, ensuring actions are followed through to completion.
  • Maintain clean, organised, and safe work areas at all times.
  • Complete maintenance check sheets, job cards, compliance records, and weekly reporting documentation.
  • Keep the Health, Safety & Facilities Manager informed of maintenance activities, outstanding issues, risks, and completed tasks.
  • Conduct weekly health, safety, and security inspections to ensure compliance across facilities.
  • Identify, escalation, and report health and safety risks, taking immediate corrective action where required.
  • Support emergency maintenance requirements and respond to critical business-impacting faults to ensure uninterrupted operations.
  • Contribute to a proactive maintenance culture by identifying improvement opportunities and preventative measures to reduce recurring issues.

You'll Ideally Bring:

  • 2 - 5 years' experience in a maintenance role.
  • Strong troubleshooting experience.
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience carrying out preventative and reactive maintenance tasks.
  • Ability to identify and report faults or potential issues.
  • Basic understanding of hand tools and mechanical/electrical concepts.
  • Good communication skills and strong work ethics.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team while making sound decisions.
  • Willingness to learn and develop technical skills.
  • Willingness to work overtime occasionally when required.
  • Strong awareness of health and safety requirements and reporting processes.
  • An accredited qualification in mechanical, plumbing, or electrical disciplines would be advantageous.
