Job summary

Greif in Roodepoort, South Africa, invites a qualified Millwright to join our production maintenance team. You will perform planned, preventative, and breakdown maintenance on mechanical and electromechanical equipment, diagnose faults, install and commission machinery, and support safety and continuous improvement initiatives.

The role requires a recognised Millwright Trade Test Certificate (Red Seal), Matric, and 2–5 years’ post-trade experience in manufacturing.

Qualifications

• Recognised Millwright Trade Test Certificate (Red Seal) as per SA standards.
• Matric with NQF Level 5 focus on Electrical.
• Minimum 1–5 years’ post-trade experience in manufacturing or industrial environments.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience diagnosing hydraulic and pneumatic faults.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience mechanical and electrical fault finding.
• Ability to work under pressure and respond effectively to breakdowns.
• Read/interpret hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical schematics.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with the OHSA Act and regulations.
• Adhere to LOTOTO, permit-to-work, confined spaces and live electrical procedures.
• Identify and report unsafe conditions, near misses and incidents.
• Participate in risk assessments, toolbox talks and safety audits.
• Perform planned, preventative and breakdown maintenance on mechanical/electromechanical equipment.
• Diagnose faults and repair mechanical and basic electrical systems.
• Install, align and commission machinery and equipment.
• Conduct vibration checks and condition monitoring where required.
• Maintain tools and toolbox; keep records up to date in CMMS.
• Support root cause analysis and Continuous Improvement initiatives.
• Work with production, engineering and maintenance staff to minimise downtime.
• Provide guidance to apprentices and operators; assist in shift handovers.
