Job summary

Evotec Plastics in Cape Town seeks a skilled Maintenance Millwright to support reliability and performance of manufacturing operations. You will perform electrical and mechanical maintenance, fault-finding, repairs, installations and preventive maintenance on equipment.

The role aims to improve plant reliability, reduce downtime, and maintain accurate maintenance records while ensuring safety and contamination controls are upheld.

Qualifications

• Millwright Trade Test Certificate is required.
• Matric or equivalent qualification is required.
• At least three years’ post-trade experience in a production or manufacturing environment.
• Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding ability.
• Experience with three-phase motors and industrial electrical systems.
• Practical experience with hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings.
• Ability to work independently and remain effective during breakdowns.
• Basic computer literacy and maintaining accurate maintenance records.

Responsibilities

• Attend to mechanical and electrical breakdowns.
• Diagnose recurring machine faults and identify root causes.
• Maintain moulding, assembly, printing, conveying and ancillary equipment.
• Maintain motors, gearboxes, bearings, belts, chains and shafts.
• Conduct fault-finding on electrical panels, sensors, contactors, relays and motor circuits.
• Maintain hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Establish and manage preventive-maintenance schedules.
• Conduct planned services and equipment inspections.
• Maintain an accurate machine and equipment register.
• Record breakdowns, repairs, parts used and production downtime.
• Identify critical spare parts and recommend stock levels.
• Liaise with machine suppliers and specialist contractors.
• Support machine installations, relocations and commissioning.
• Ensure tools, lubricants, chemicals, loose parts and maintenance debris do not introduce contamination risks.
