Job summary

Abantu Staffing Solutions seeks an experienced Maintenance Supervisor to lead reactive, predictive and preventative maintenance across plant infrastructure. You will coordinate first-line maintenance, raise job cards, and ensure permits are in place to keep production running.

You will drive root cause analysis, approve completed work, and maintain safe work areas in line with safety and housekeeping standards, reporting to the Plant Manager.

Qualifications

• Certificate or Diploma in technical/maintenance fields (NQF5/6)
• Trade test
• First Line Management certificate (FLMP)
• Minimum 5 years in maintenance operations in manufacturing, incl 1–2 years in supervision and up to 3 years on shifts
• Computer literacy
• In-depth knowledge of maintenance practices, procedures and processes
• Sound understanding of compliance with applicable legislation, safety and manufacturing regulations

Responsibilities

• Ensures effective reactive, predictive and preventative maintenance is performed on plant/infrastructure/equipment to limit failures and optimise production processes
• Coordinates first line maintenance to restrict or prevent downtime
• Raises job cards for maintenance work and ensures necessary work permits
• Drives root cause analysis (5 WHY, 8D, etc.) for equipment failures
• Approves all job cards after maintenance work is completed
• Maintains safe work areas and housekeeping in line with standards
• Conducts preventative maintenance as per schedule
• Minimises plant and equipment downtime
• Monitors and rectifies equipment failures promptly
• Coordinates plant shutdowns with feedback loop
• Ensures safety and housekeeping standards are complied with
• Submits written reports to Manager

Key Responsibilities

• Ensures effective reactive, predictive and preventative maintenance is performed on all plant / infrastructure / equipment as required, to limit potential failure and optimise production processes.


• Coordinates first line maintenance to restrict or prevent plant / equipment downtime.


• Raises job cards for all maintenance work required, ensuring work permits are included (work permits for “hot work”, vessel entry and elevated work to be escalated to Manager for approval).


• Drives and participates in all fault analysis on equipment failure, i.e. Root Cause Analysis – 5 WHY, 8D, etc.


• Approves all job cards after maintenance work is completed successfully.


• Ensures that equipment and work areas are safe, maintained by Operators, and that housekeeping principles are adhered to at all times.


• Preventative maintenance conducted as per schedule.


• Plant / equipment downtime prevented or minimised.


• Equipment failures monitored and rectified promptly.


• Plant shutdowns coordinated – feedback provided and received.


• Safety and housekeeping standards complied with.


• Written reports submitted to Manager.
