Qualifications

Responsibilities

Maintenance Handyman – Luxury Wine Estate – Franschhoek

Kendrick Recruitment is currently seeking a reliable and hands-on Maintenance Handyman for a luxury wine estate based in Franschhoek.

This is an excellent opportunity for a practical and hardworking individual with general maintenance experience to join a well-established hospitality property and assist in ensuring the estate is maintained to the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance, repairs, and annual servicing of tools and equipment
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests from various departments
• Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment issues and carry out necessary repairs
• Conduct general handyman duties including plumbing, basic electrical work, carpentry, painting, and building repairs
• Ensure building maintenance requests are attended to efficiently and professionally
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and repairs completed
• Manage and monitor inventory of tools, equipment, spare parts, and maintenance materials
• Liaise with external contractors and service providers when required

Experience and Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years experience in general maintenance and handyman duties.
• Practical experience in basic electrical work, plumbing, and general repairs.
• Experience with swimming pool maintenance and repairs.
• Ability to repair kitchen fixtures, fittings, and everyday household items.
• Basic knowledge of carpentry, painting, and building maintenance.
• Good practical problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Knowledge of safe working procedures when using hand tools and electrical equipment.
• Ability to work independently, manage maintenance tasks, and respond to urgent requests.
• Hospitality, wine estate, hotel, or property maintenance experience will be advantageous.
• Must be hardworking, reliable, organised, and able to work well within a team.
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in general electrical, plumbing, air‑conditioning, and/or heat pump repairs and maintenance.
• Previous hotel or property maintenance experience would be advantageous.
• Good understanding of safe working procedures relating to electrical tools and equipment.
• Basic hand tool and electrical knowledge essential.
• Preference will be given to candidates residing in Franschhoek or neighbouring areas.
• Matric Certificate required.
• Technical qualification in Facilities, Maintenance, Engineering, or a related field beneficial.
• Valid driver’s licence advantageous.
